Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification: A Certified Six Sigma from the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) Yellow Belt is someone who has learned the fundamentals of Six Sigma but does not take the lead on projects by themselves. They are frequently in charge of creating process maps to aid with Six Sigma initiatives. A Yellow Belt contributes as a vital project team member or subject matter expert (SME). Furthermore, Yellow Belts frequently manages minor process improvement initiatives that follow the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) approach. PDCA, often known as the Deming Wheel, is a tool that Yellow Belts use to pinpoint processes that could use improvement. These smaller Yellow Belt initiatives frequently advance to the Green Belt or Black Belt level when Statistical Process Control is utilised with a DMAIC methodology to maximise cost reductions.
Two Alternative Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification Paths
Two ways exist to become a Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified through the Council for Sigma Certification (CSSC). Those who feel they have a solid comprehension of the subjects included in the Yellow Belt Certification “Body of Knowledge” and have already completed training can take our usual thorough Exam.
Instead of taking a single, extensive, comprehensive exam, those who use one of our free Self-Study Guides can take multiple, shorter exams as they work through the various sections independently or in collaboration with a training provider.
Additionally, as they advance through their certification journey, individuals pursuing the second option towards Certification will earn the different levels of our standard certifications (White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt, and Black Belt) without paying additional examination fees.
We will grant our official Certification (s) via either route.
The Multiple Exam path is the best choice for applicants who would like to lower their overall examination/certification fees, experts seeking a thorough refresher, or those less experienced with the approach.
The “Standard Exam” is a comprehensive test designed for individuals already conversant with the “Body of Knowledge” for Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.

Exam Preparation
To pass the official CSSC certification exam, we advise anyone interested in obtaining Six Sigma training to do so through an approved training provider or by reading the free self-study guide provided by The Council for Six Sigma Certification. We strongly advise applicants already familiar with the Six Sigma Yellow Belt methodology to go over the relevant “Body of Knowledge” and the free self-study guide.
Awarding of Certification
The most reputable accrediting body in the Six Sigma industry, The Council for Six Sigma Certification, will award candidates with an Official CSSC Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification upon successful completion of the certification requirements.
Our certifications are still valid. We firmly believe that certificates that call for “renewals” do not help individuals; they merely help certification companies make more money. Professional Certification does not expire, but a Master’s degree in business does.
Applicants can always retake the certification exam at any time to get a more recent certification date (typically for less money than a provider would charge for a “renewal”).
People receive an electronic Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification after fulfilling the prerequisites. The holder of a certification is added to the official register of the Council for Six Sigma Certification, and each Certification has a verifiable certification number.
